Rest and Restore Protocol™ (RRP): Deeper Regulation for Complex Needs

The Rest and Restore Protocol™, co-developed by Dr. Porges and Anthony Gorry, builds on SSP’s foundation using Sonocea®-patented technology to activate both branches of the vagus nerve. This new protocol reaches deeper levels of autonomic balance, making it particularly effective for people managing complex trauma, chronic illness, digestive issues, burnout, aging-related stress, and mood disorders.
RRP’s five hours of curated music guide the body into restorative states often resulting in improved sleep, vivid dreaming, and a sense of deep relaxation. We work closely with each client to titrate the delivery, ensuring safety and comfort, and provide unlimited messaging for ongoing support.

Safe and Sound Protocol® (SSP): Building Connection Through Sound

The Safe and Sound Protocol®, developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, uses filtered vocal music to stimulate the vagus nerve and shift the body into a state of safety and connection. Originally created for children with developmental and sensory challenges, SSP is now widely used to support emotional regulation, attention, and resilience in individuals with PTSD, anxiety, ADHD, autism, and sensory processing disorders.
Delivered via a secure app and over-ear headphones, the program is typically experienced over 5 hours and offers a gentle, non-invasive way to enhance self-regulation, improve focus, and make other therapies more effective.

Transform Your Autonomic Nervous System with SSP® and RRP™

At Mind & Life Counseling, we offer two powerful sound-based therapies : the Safe and Sound Protocol® (SSP) and the Rest and Restore Protocol™ (RRP) designed to help individuals of all ages regulate their nervous systems, reduce chronic stress, and support healing from trauma and emotional dysregulation. These evidence-based interventions are rooted in polyvagal theory and are delivered in a safe, attuned, and personalized way either in person or remotely.

Movement, Integration, and Continued Support

As clients move from sympathetic overdrive or freeze states into regulation, we guide them through movement and somatic integration practices to help embody and stabilize change. Gentle breathwork, stretching, and mindfulness support this physiological transition, making results more sustainable.
We remain in close connection throughout the process offering feedback, adaptation, and nervous system education that empowers lasting transformation.

Begin the Journey

Whether you're a client ready to explore SSP or RRP for yourself or a clinician seeking a trusted referral partner we're here to help. Contact us to schedule an assessment or to discuss how sound-based regulation can fit into your (or your patient’s) therapeutic path.

For Referring Clinicians: A Trauma-Informed, Collaborative Approach

We welcome referrals from therapists, physicians, occupational therapists, naturopaths, psychiatrists, and other healthcare providers seeking to support patients with nervous system dysregulation. Whether your patient is stuck in a chronic stress loop, facing trauma-related symptoms, or simply struggling to access the full benefits of talk therapy, these sound-based interventions can serve as powerful co-regulation tools.
When you refer a client, we begin with a comprehensive intake to assess their readiness and support needs. We maintain close communication with referring providers (with appropriate consent) to ensure that our interventions complement your existing treatment goals. Our flexible, remote-compatible delivery makes SSP and RRP ideal for a wide range of clinical presentations.
